The new 2008 Show year is about to begin and there will be a few of them heading out this year. “Sir” (Taeson X Mocha) and “General” (Primo X Babe) will be our first out from our home. Followed by “Peyton”,“Bobbi” (Primo X Babe) and “Busa”, “Tubbs” (Benny X Bru).

‘Tune”(Primo X Babe) owned and loved by Crystal Corner (Dal Primo-U.S.) will be starting her show career in May and she will be shown throughout the year in both Canada and the States.

“Blanche”(Primo X Babe) owned and loved by Nic Miron(Bullmax-Quebec) will be starting her show career in the spring of this year. As well, she will be working towards her Obedience title.

“Ally” (Benny X Bru) owned by Wendy and Nichola Burgess (Guardnangel-Kingston) residing with and loved by Jeff, Beth, Abbey & Lauren Burleigh will be starting her show career later this year.

“Dora” (Taeson X Gwen) owned by Laurie Gordanier residing with and loved by Martin, Janet, Kayla and Lee Cahais will start her show career in early summer. We also share “Taeson” with the Cahais family. I hear he is a great bed warmer for Lee.

“Babe” (Onan X Brooke) owned by Laurie Gordanier residing with and loved by Albert, Bobbi-jo Ball and their 2 girls. We have one more planned breeding for Babe in the future and then she will be retired from our breeding program. Babe lives on a farm with the Albert family where she has acres to run and rule and a family with kids, a canine pal-pug, .to love and cherish.

“Gina” (Onan X Brooke) owned and loved by Laurie Gordanier has finished her Canadian Championship and will be out in spot showing this year. We are working towards her obedience title. We have a planned breeding for later in the year for Gina.

“Gwen” (Miguel X Tess) owned and loved by Laurie Gordanier is our old girl around the house and the pack leader. She keeps everyone in check and is most often residing on the couch.

As spring and summer approach, I have some recommendations to keep your Bullmastiff safe, sound and healthy.

1)      Do the lepto shots included in your dog’s immunization program, One year Rabies shot in the first year and all following should be the 3 year.

2)      Heart worm medication with parasite care for at least 8 months of the year

3)      Annual vet visit including taking in a stool sample and have it checked for worm parasites and protozoa parasites.

4)      Use metal dishes for water and feeding for cleanliness..

5)      Use a safe bug spray, I use different types that are home made… After the age of 6 months, I will do the following; in a water spray bottle, fill with water and add 3-4 drops of liquid citronella and spray on your dog when going out. Watch the eye, nose and mouth area.

6)      For urine burns on your lawn, contrary to suggestions, the best thing is to water down the area urinated on. If you create an area and train your dog to go that area, only it will be easier. I recommend putting in a small pea stone area for them to go and for the boys, a nice post in the middle is always good.

7)      For cleaning your yard, including garden, grass, patio and decks read below.     .

8)      Remember to check/cut your dog’s nails on a weekly basis and clean the ears. Use

This time to go over your dog and check for any cuts, abrasions, bumps and lumps. Brush your dog’s teeth once a day and give fresh REAL bones. Always end grooming time on a positive note and a treat is always appreciated.

9)      Watch your bully in the heat (especially the brindles) keep them shaded, if over

heated do NOT give tons of water. Limit water intake (ice is good) place cold

cloth under the dog. If this does not cool your dog immediately, seek a vet.

Yard Odor Treatment

1 qt. water,1 cup lemon ammonia,1 cup lemon dish soap,1 capful mint

mouthwash. I put it in a (weed & feed) spray bottle that hooks up to the hose and

spray away. I do this at least weekly during bug time I add 3-4 drops each of

Citronella and Eucalyptus

Ear Treatment Remedy - I use this homemade recipe to treat any Ear gunk

problems and it works well… Be careful, as it will stain…

Blue Power Ear Treatment - 4 Tablespoons Boric Acid Powder, 16 Drops Gentian Violet Solution 1%, I bottle of rubbing alcohol, Mix together in alcohol bottle and shake well. You will also need to shake solution every time you use it to disperse the Boric Acid Powder. Purchase the "Clairol" type plastic bottle to dispense solution to affected ears.

TREATMENT: Evaluate condition of ears before treating and if very inflamed and

sore. Just flush and then wait until inflammation has subsided, which will be

about two days. Warm the solution and shake the bottle each time before using.

Flood the ear with solution (gently squirt bottle). Massage gently to the count of

60 wipe with a tissue.  On first treatment: flood the ear twice, wipe with a tissue,

and leave alone without massage. The dog will shake out the excess. The

SCHEDULE of treatment is as follows:  Treat 2x per day for the first week to two

weeks, depending upon severity of ears. After the 2nd or 3rd day you can clean

out the ear with cotton balls. Use care to prevent the gunk from falling down into

the ear canal. Treatment-1x per day for the next 1-2 weeks,

Maintenance-Treat 1x per month. The Boric Acid Powder soothes the ear. The

Gentian Violet Solution is an anti-infection agent, that acts as a bactericide,

           fungicide, and anathematic (destroys worms)
